Active School
Gurraneasig NS is proud to have achieved the Active School Flag (ASF), which recognises schools like ours that strive to achieve a physically educated and active school. The ASF is a non competitive initiative which highlights the importance of physical activity and sport in school and communities in which they are based.
Sport
A healthy lifestyle is vital for a child’s well-being and keeping fit is an important part of this. Physical Education (PE) provides children with learning opportunities through the medium of movement and contributes to their overall development by helping them to lead full, active and healthy lives.
As well as enjoying a wide range of activities in PE and games in school, we participate in inter school competitions and tournaments, outside of school, such as Cork City & County ‘Cis Pheil na mBun Scoil’ (Basketball), West Cork Cumann na mBun Scoil comepition (GAA), Cork Primary Schools Sports (Athletics) and upcoming events Orienteering, Tennis & Creative Dance.
Traditionally we hold an annual School Sports Day every June which includes pupils, family & wider community in a fun and non competitative setting.
