Soccer with the girls
We had a lovely day out, in the Sun, with the girls in Ballincollig. They played with a smile on their faces throughout. An absolute joy to manage and coach. Thank you, parents, Becky, Gabi and Eimear, for all your efforts, in making this a reality for them.
A bit like the boys, we got off to a slow start. TBF we played the best team in the first game and they gave us a lesson. But the girls never dropped their heads and with Rachel doing her best with her wisdom and wit, that was never going to happen! We could have won our second game but were unfortunate to come off second best 1-0. We drew the next game, which we were unlucky not to win and we won our last game to come joint 5th out of 16 teams.
Mollyrose led from the front all day long and was so good with her positive can-do attitude. She tackled everything and was ably assisted by Matilda as vice-captain. Matilda (wearing her cool baseball cap) is a fearless defender and made some excellent reads and sniffed out the attack. Kennedy is a skilful athlete and has a powerful left leg and really came into the competition in the last 2 games. Lily-Rose worked so honestly up front all day and scored a lovely goal to win the last game. Scarlett and Rachel were so good and shared the goal keeper responsibilities all day long and were always…TEAM first. Winning isn’t everything. We are proud of you all.
