Summer 2021 Newsletter
22nd June 2021
Dear Parents,
We have arrived at the end of another school year - the end of an era for some as we say farewell to our 6th Class.
It has been another ‘different’ year - we started afresh in September, returned to remote learning after Christmas only to be reunited again in March. We have a lot to be proud and positive of - we have stood resilient as a school community throughout another difficult year. And the children and teachers have given it socks to finish on a high!
Classes Teachers, Book Lists, 2021/22 Calendar & End of Year Report Cards
The above-mentioned were posted out to you Monday June 14th.
The website will also be updated shortly with next year’s calendar & booklists.
School Tour
The school tour in West Cork Secret, Kilbrittain was a hit! Check out our Twitter account for some great action shots. There’s more photos to be posted on our school website in the coming days.
Active School Week
Míle Buíochas to Mr. Murray and the Senior Room for coordinating Active School Week which saw the children building sand castles, walking, biking, playing crab soccer, racing , zumba dancing and surfing to name a few! We had a great day last Friday with class races and a 6th Class versus staff soccer match. (It was like the Euros in Gurraneasig!)
Graduation
Our wonderful Sixth Class are preparing for their big move. We’ll be sad to see them leave but excited for them to start secondary school - as it’s a challenge that they are more than ready for. Graduation looked a little different this year - as again we are asked not to have any gatherings. However we did mark the occasion in our own special way- and we sincerely wish our fantastic ten all the best in their new schools.
Teacher Farewell
I would like to take this opportunity to bid farewell to our Junior Room Teacher – Ms. Kennelly. We thank her for her dedication and commitment to the school during her time with us and wish her continued success in her career. She will be missed by staff and students alike.
Summer Works Scheme:
Our car park construction will begin shortly - followed soon after by our roof repair project. We are looking forward to seeing how our beautiful school evolves over the summer!
Junior Infants:
Should guidelines allow, we hope to have an open morning for New Junior Infant children & parents at the end of August prior to school reopening. We’ll update you of our plans in due course.
School Term Costs.
Any outstanding payments should be forwarded to the office or paid online to the school bank account as soon as possible please.
Summer Closing
Just a quick reminder; School will close @ 12pm on Wednesday 23th June.
I would like to thank all parents for your help and cooperation during the year. Your support and encouragement never goes unnoticed. I would also like to acknowledge the support and hard work of the Parents Association - especially with their help in promoting the school, distributing the school promotional video.
I wish you all a happy, safe and fun Summer.
Is mise le meas,
Maeve Tighe. Príomhoide.
