Spring 2021 Newsletter

16 February 2021

Dear Parents/Guardians.

I hope this finds you all safe & well during this prolonged lockdown.

We understand that remote learning is not an ideal situation and it puts a lot of pressure on families. We are very grateful for your support and want to say thanks for your understanding and positivity during this time.

Regrettably at this point there is no guidance from the Department as to a date for reopening, but hopefully we will be reunited in person shortly within the coming weeks.

School events: The student council hosted a Christmas Jumper Day & Santa Dash in aid of Cork Simon Community and raised an amazing €240 for this very worthy cause. Your contribution is much appreciated by the Charity.

Summer Works Scheme:

We have been fortunate enough to have secured grant approval for significant roof repairs to be carried out during the summer of 2021.

IT:

During this school closure we have undertaken upgrades to our school IT Network - we anticipate that students and teachers will really benefit from these upgrades upon reopening.

Parent Teacher Meetings:

Parent Teacher Meetings are currently postponed but we will update you further once additional guidance has been issued from the Department.

Appreciation

I would like to acknowledge the support of the Parents Association during this lockdown, especially their facilitation of the Friday Whatsapp group so the pupils can connect & interact with each other.

Thank you to those parents who have very kindly donated outside of or to the Schools’ Wish List. Your support is always welcome and much appreciated. Without your generosity the school would not be able to operate as we do.

Congratulations

We would like to extend our heartfelt congratulations to Ms. Elaine Byrne & husband Shane on the birth of their daughter - Ada.

Text-a-Parent App. & Communication

The School uses Textaparent.ie to send out school texts. This is a free App which is available for both Apple & Android devices. Use of their free App by parents will make more financially efficient use of our school credit. If you don’t have a smart phone or cannot download the app, you will still receive school texts in the usual manner. Please download the new TextaParent App to your phone so that school messages and calendar updates can now be sent to the App. https://app.textaparent.ie/get/app

Clothes Recycling Fundraiser:

The school is participating in the Cash for Clobber fundraiser with Cookstown Textile Recyclers this year once school re-opens. So gather up your unused clothes and help raise money for the school. Please check out their website if you require further information at http://www.cashforclobber.ie/CTRIE/Cash_for_Clobber.html The collection date will be confirmed over the coming weeks.

Mid-Term Break:

Please remember that mid-term break is this Thursday & Friday (18th & 19th February) and we hope that you make time to enjoy this well earned break.

Is mise le meas

Ms Tighe.
