Dear Parents/Guardians.

I would like to extend a warm Happy New Year to everybody and hope that 2019 is a healthy & prosperous year for us all.

Parent Teacher Meetings:

PT meetings will be held the 29th & 30th of January. Please note school will close @ 2.10pm on both Parent- Teacher Meeting days. You will receive your appointment time shortly. If there are ever any issues concerning your child please make an appointment to see the relevant teacher.

School Closures – Spring Term:

Please note the school will be closed from Monday 18th to Friday 22nd February (incl) for mid-term break. It will be closed on Friday 15th March and Monday 18th March for St. Patrick’s Day. School will close at 12pm on Friday April 12th to Friday 29th April inclusive for Easter Holidays.

Open Day for New Junior Infants:

This year we will hold our Open Day on March 13th at 2.30pm Please spread the word to any prospective parents, playschools, creches, childminders,etc.

SpikeBall Competition:

All of the pupils of the Senior Room will be participating in a SpikeBall Primary Schools Competition, date and venue to be confirmed. We will require lifts for the children to & from the venue. A letter will be sent out when we have final clarification of the venue and time. Please contact Mr. Murray if you are available to drop & collect.

Table Tennis:

Table Tennis classes commenced on Wednesday 09th January with Alan Hurley for 6 weeks with Middle & Senior Rooms. A Table tennis tournament for Senior Room pupils only will take place on Thursday the 24th of Jan in Sáile Kinsale.

Safer Internet Day:

Safer Internet Day (SID) is an EU wide initiative to promote a safer internet for all users, especially young people. It is promoted in Ireland by the PDST Technology in Education and Webwise. The Theme for Safer Internet Day 2019, Tuesday, February 5th, is “Together for a Better Internet”. Please see the following link for further information:

GOAL Santa Dash:

Thank you to all families for this. The school raised over €50 for the Students’ Council choice of charity.

Please download the new TextaParent App to your phone so that school messages and calendar updates can now be sent to the App.

Clothes Recycling Fundraiser:

The school is participating in the Cash for Clobber fundraiser with Cookstown Textile Recyclers this term. So gather up your unused clothes and help raise money for the school. Please check out their website if you require further information at All clean and dry clothes, shoes (pairs only please in a separate bag if possible), hats, gloves, handbags, and household textiles (no blankets, quilts or pillows) will be collected.

Please put your recyclable items in large refuse bags

Return the bag(s) to school on either Friday 01st or Monday 04th February. collected on Tuesday 05th February.
