Gurraneasig NS is awarded the Amber Flag!
The children said: "Our school deserves the Amber Flag because we are like a family, we don't bully, we can talk about how we feel and we do lots of things for our mental health which is just as important as our physical health."
Big thank you to all the children, teachers and parents who helped us win this important flag!
Just 3 days, 17 kids,
a pony and a pig !!.
On Saturday 9th April The Park Cinema, Clonakilty was buzzing with excited little starlets in anticipation of seeing themselves up on the big screen. Gurraneasig National School, premiered a double bill of their 'fruit' themed westerns that they have written and filmed at the school with the children over the last couple of years. First up was the 'Banana Bandits' about a reckless pair of bank robbing bananas, which won Best Comedy at the West Cork Fís Film Festival 2015, followed by 'The Perilous Pear' a thrilling adventure about an outlaw pear...and a some seriously angry wasps, a hungry pig and perky pony! It was a fantastic morning and a great opportunity for the children to see all their hard work from script to screen. These projects are all part of the 'Film in Schools' initiative designed to introduce the medium of film as a support to the Revised Primary School Curriculum.

A visit from Mr. Declan Murphy and his two friends from Nepal was a real treat last Thursday. We really enjoyed the stories about Nepal and the great work his organisation "Just One" do for the street children of Kathmandu. We will be keeping this charity close to our hearts over the years ahead. The children asked many varied and interesting questions and were motivated by our guests who once grew up on these streets of Kathmandu
