Mental Well Being
For some pupils the transition to secondary school can be a dauting prospect with lots of concerns and fears surrounding the move. We will be sending a leaftlet home with 6th class pupils. The aim of the leaflet is to generate a healthy discussion on mental health in the classroom and give the students a chance to talk about their feelings.

It is planned that in the new year the school will initiate a Mental Well Being programme in conjunction with Cork Mental Health.Com
A new positive mental health programme which is aimed at five to seven year olds of all abilities, teaches young children how to develop skills to cope with problems that may occur in adolescence and adulthood. It teaches them how to cope with everyday difficulties, to identify and talk about their feelings and to explore ways of dealing with them. This programme is being implemented in the middle room.
